(Thanksgiving Dinner c/o Hendy and Jenny!)

A proper shout out needs to go out to Thanksgiving weekend. Anna and I drove to KY to meet up with Mom to do “a few odd jobs” around the house - to put a shine on it to help it sell. Anna summed up the weekend best when she said, “I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a roller in my hand.”

So what does a few odd jobs look like? Check out Mom's list...

What the Army Accomplished In No Particular Order
- strip wallpaper in family room
- prime and paint family room
- refinish baseboards in family room
- sand and stain bookcase in family room
- replace leaky faucet in family room
- replace lights in family room (thereby changing the whole look of the room)
- vacuum entire house
- lay new floor in basement bathroom
- cover access to crawl space with pegboard
- clear out tools, paint, paper and hardware left behind
- replace hardware in basement bathroom
- strip wallpaper in basement bathroom
- prime and paint basement bathroom
- fix two leaks in basement toilet
- replace floor in basement bathroom
- strip wallpaper from Anna’s room
- paint Anna's door
- prime and paint walls, closet and ceiling in Anna’s room
- fix Anna’s CO2 detector
- trim and finish windows in bedroom basements
- replace stained ceiling tiles in basement
- empty storeroom in basement
- finish pegboard in basement storeroom
- replace light covers in basement family room
- trim bushes
- rake yard
- clean windows
- replace garage light
- replace lightbulb in master shower
- install fire alarm on second floor
- strip wall paper in Katie’s room
- paint Katie's door
- paint master closet
- strip, prime (2 coats) and paint closet and walls in Matthew’s room
- paint ceiling (two coats) in Matthew’s room
- fix holes in Matthew’s doors (door to room and door to closet)
- paint over “the killers” which was written very carefully on Matthew’s window sill
- replace floor in laundry room
- replace and paint quarter round in laundry room
- replace socket covers in kitchen
- replace socket covers in Katie’s room
- buy towels that represented the beach theme for the basement bathroom
- place doormat, poutpourri carefully about the house
- rescue ET, my mother’s cosmetic case and Gary’s Top Secret Box from Potato Hole (kids secret place in the Master closet)
- eat Thanksgiving dinner at 1 AM Friday morning
- eat cookies, Graeter’s ice cream and other goodies brought by friends

We were women and we roared. But much of the wind in our air came from the help of that small army of dear neighbors and friends and “The Handyman Will Fix It” Man (a man who truly did live up to his reputation and was able to fix everything and whom we all agreed that we’d like to take home with us). Thank you, dear neighbors, friends, and The Handyman.


(me trimming - yes, I did trim in this position for what seemed like days because it was for days and, yes, I get carpet burn on my elbow and lock-hand and, yes, I might have threatened to call OSHA)
